New Technology Developed

  1. Identified and redescribed taxonomic morphological characters of the insect Patialus tecomellae (Rohida defoliator). as it is previously not there as holotype. The DNA of the insect specimen was amplified by using universal primers for sequencing the nucleotide, sequence data obtained were edited and then subjected for BLAST with NCBI nucleotide sequence data library. This is the first submission of Patialus tecomella in the NCBI database. After the submission of sequences to the GenBank, the specimen was allotted with accession number PP054313 and for this species the DNA barcode was generated using BoldSystems v4 for the first time in India.   2. Identified and reported Tecomella undulata (Sm.) Seem (Lamiales: Bignoniaceae), as new host plant for Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae).
