• Biodiversity Conservation: We strive to enhance tree cover, protect endangered species, and promote sustainable livelihoods for local communities. Our research contributes to the preservation of unique flora and fauna in the arid regions.
• Afforestation and Reforestation: AFRI pioneers innovative techniques for tree planting, sand dune stabilization, soil moisture conservation, rehabilitation of stressed wastelands, salt affected lands, rocky wastelands and agroforestry. Our efforts contribute to ecosystem restoration and combat desertification.
• Genetic diversity assessment and improvement of forestry species: AFRI uses classical genetics and cutting-edge molecular biotechnology tools to study population genetics, improve existing germplasm and provide quality planting material.
• Climate Resilience: We study the impact of climate change on arid ecosystems, strive to develop drought-tolerant species, and promote water-use efficiency. Our goal is to build resilient landscapes that withstand environmental fluctuations through use of environmentally friendly technologies including biofertilizers and IPDM.
• Non-Timber Forest Products: AFRI explores the potential of non-wood forest products, emphasizing their sustainable utilization. These products play a crucial role in livelihood enhancement and rural development.
• Capacity Building: Through workshops, training programs, and outreach, we empower forest officers, farmers, and students with the latest scientific knowledge and best practices.
