Present Responsibilities
- Establishment, development and management of the Local Area Network and Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- Operation of 2 MPBS leased line for VPN.
- To provide IT related services to the users of the Institute.
- Implementation and operation of "Indian Forestry Research Information System (IFRIS)", an ERP Solution for the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education.
- Procurement and Maintenance of hardware and software in the Institute.
- Imparting computer trainings to the staff of the Institute.
- Development and execution of IT projects.
Projects Worked on in AFRI
- Development of Network and hardware Infrastructure at the Institute. The Institutes network now comprises of a local area network consisting of 118 active nodes with 118 computers, 90 printers, 20 scanners, 1 digital photocopier machine.
- Development and operation of a server room with power backup system and modern security systems.
- Installation and operation of 2 MB Leased line from BSNL for access to the Virtual Private Network of the Institute.
- The installation and operation of Mail Server, Proxy Server and Web server of the Institute on RedHat Linux and Windows 2000 server.
- Development and hosting of website of the Institute.
- Implementation of the "Indian Forestry research Information System" an ERP Solution for the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education developed under the E-governance project of the Ministry. The ERP Solution covers every discipline of working in the Council including Research, Extension, Personnel, Accounts, Procurement, Inventory, Library, Estate etc. The details of the implementation of ERP Solution given in Annexure II.
- Development of GUI based software for browsing the books & journals present in the library through network using SQL-Server Database at the Backend and VB 6.0 at the front end.
- Developed GUI based software for preparing the salary of the employees of the Institute using MS-Access Database and VB 6.0 at the front end.
- Presently involved in development of a web portal for forestry research extension on ASP.NET platform using MS-SQL Server as underlying platform.
